How I protect your personal information
Jean Barclay has been registered as self employed since 1999.
My mission is to support and guide charity leaders, managers and their teams through planning and implementing strategic change.
When you pass your contact details to me and any other personal information, you are trusting me to keep them safe. I promise to do everything within my power to protect your data to protect it from internet hackers, fraudsters and such like. I operate in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), I am registered with the Information Commissioner in the UK as the data controller. Further details of the registration are available at www.ico.gov.uk. This privacy policy applies to www.msjeanbarclay.co.uk. If you discover/leave my site via a link or third party, you will be subject to the policy of that website provider. Please note that I have no control over policies and terms of other websites.

The type of personal information I collect
I currently collect and process the following information:
- Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name, role, organisation, email and telephone contact details).
- Data from client organisations, agreed with them on a project by project basis as required, in order to carry out my consultancy work.
- Information you provide in response to a survey or other request for feedback – this may include demographic information such as your postcode.
How I get the personal information and why I have it
Most of the personal information I process is provided to me directly by you so that I can use it for one of the following reasons:
- To enable me to stay in contact with you and to carry out consultancy support work with your organisation.
- I may also gather personal information indirectly, from available sources on websites in the public domain to inform my consultancy work.
I may share this information with my website service provider but I will not share it with any other organisations for commercial purposes.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information are:
(a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting me by email: hello@msjeanbarclay.co.uk
(b) I have a contractual obligation.
How I store your personal information
Information you provide via my website is securely stored or my website provider’s dedicated secure server.
Information I hold on you is securely stored digitally on password protected systems.
I keep your personal information for as long as is necessary for me to work with you effectively and make follow up contact for a maximum period of up to 6 years. I will then dispose of your information by deleting digital files and any back-up files, and securely shredding and disposing of any paper records.
Cookies
Cookies are pieces of tracking information that are stored on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser. When you first visit my website you will be given the opportunity to allow or disallow cookies; cookies are a great mechanism to allow you to get the very best interactivity from my website. On revisiting my website I may recognise the cookie, giving me information about your last visit. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but usually you can alter the settings of your browser to prevent automatic acceptance. You are able to block or restrict the cookies set by msjeanbarclay.co.uk from within your browser settings, however doing so may affect the site functionality although you may still use most of the features of the website.
Some cookies are essential for my website to work, and others voluntary. Analysis
I use analytics tools to understand how people use my website.
When visitors use my website, I use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.
Google allows me to understand things like the number of visitors I am getting and which parts of the site they are visiting. This analytical information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone and I promise I will never share your identity with any third parties, including Google.
From time to time and only where appropriate I may provide anonymous aggregate statistical information about my services, competitions, clients, traffic patterns and other site information to third parties, but again I would stress that these statistics will not include any information that could identify you personally.
On my website search terms are captured anonymously for analysis purposes.
Information
I may collect and process the following data about you:

- Details of your visits to www.msjeanbarclay.co.uk including, but not limited to, weblogs, operating system, browser usage, traffic data, location data and other data
- This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our site, subscribing to our service or requesting further services.
- If you complete our surveys.
- I will keep a record of correspondence if you contact me.
I use information collected about you to help me (a) develop the design and layout of the website to ensure that it is as useful and enjoyable as possible and (b) provide the products and services which interest you. Sometimes this information may also be used by me to inform you about changes to the website, new services and products or offers that you might find interesting. If you do not wish to receive this information, you can simply use the ‘Unsubscribe’ function at any time.
Your data protection rights

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that I transfer the personal information you gave me to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.
